A very informative and successful event with Sacramento Business Journal

60 chairs fit nicely for this event.

Sacramento Business Journal did a great job making it all happen this morning.  Thank you Panera Bread for catering the event.
Many business leaders and companies learned about the exciting things we are doing here at the studio and in Oak Park.

We had a great presentation on the mobile app industry and the importance it plays for businesses.

Instructor and artist Sue Stover taught artists how to use her unique encaustic approach with wax and other materials. She is a great teacher and everyone enjoyed this two day workshop of experimenting, creating, and learning.
Students learned and practiced new techniques to create beautiful encaustic artwork during the workshop.  Thank you everyone who attended and helped put this workshop together at the studio.

A wonderful workshop with Randy Blasquez this weekend at the studio.

Randy discussed how she prepares to paint a large format painting.
Using a small plein air study, notan sketches, and source material, she showed us how to get the big simple color value shapes.

It was a really nice weekend of painting large, meeting some new artist friends, and working through the artistic struggle together.  I would never say painting is easy, but the rewards of hanging in there and figuring it out, in an environment that is mutually supportive and instructional, is well worth the uncomfortableness.

And of course it's always fun to take a lunch break during the workshop and head up the block to Old Soul for something delicious to eat and drink.
