Fabulous "Brushwork and Sauce" Workshop with Randy Blasquez this weekend

The Patris Studio once again was alive with creativity and learning this weekend as Randy Blasquez showed participants different techniques and ideas for the Brushwork and Wash Method.
Students from near and far came to the studio to learn about brushwork and the secret "sauce" used for the wash method.
Lots of individual attention, creative camaraderie amongst each other, and a great group of artists learning, practicing and growing together.

Thank you Randy for the fabulous weekend workshop.  We look forward to the next workshop here at the studio in the near future.

A Very Fun Valentines Paint and Sip

Rachel Cate leads the group through a step by step process during our Paint and Sip.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and discovered they had a little bit of an inner artist as their paintings of Starry, Starry Night began to emerge.

A little paint, a few brushes, lots of laughter, smiles makes a fun time for all.
The thing I love most about our Paint and Sip events is that we are helping put art making back into the hands of people who for whatever reason thought that only certain gifted genius kind of people could pick up a brush and create something.  We all have the ability to create and sometimes it just takes a fun event like Paint and Sip to get people to try their hand at some art.

A fabulous encaustic workshop with Paco Benitez

Internationally known encaustic artist Francisco "Paco" Benitez from New Mexico began the workshop by sharing about the tradition of the encaustic medium and the Fayun Portraits of ancient times.

Using a limited color range vary similar to the Zorn palette, he began developing this portrait painting with wax and using heat tools to manipulate the application of wax onto the board.

Students worked from a live model as they applied the encaustic approach to working from life.  It was a great workshop with a fantastic group of people determined to learn this approach.  Everyone worked so hard and expended so much energy that a well deserved break after the workshop should be mandatory!  Thank you Paco for coming to California and we look forward to having you come back again.  Thanks everyone who participated in this amazing 3-day workshop.  Make Art!!!!!
