This workshop is about painting the figure alla prima (wet into wet) and the techniques used to create a fresh, direct response to our subjects.  

David Shevlino studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (certificate ’84) and the University of Pennsylvania (BFA ’92).  His work has been featured in national publications and he has exhibited his work and taught workshops throughout the U.S.  He has also produced a series of videos and DVDs about his artwork and painting methods.

Students of all levels will come to this workshop prepared to paint outdoors. The point of the class is to practice painting fast and loose from life! David will show participants how everyday urban subjects viewed from a street corner can become images for lively and fresh paintings. Indoor painting area available.

Michael will begin his workshop in Sacramento with a painting demo from 10 am - 1 pm on February 6.  Workshop participants as well as a limited number of observers will have a first hand look at his thought process and approach to painting.
Michael is an amazing teacher and masterful artist. Artists studying with him have a genuine opportunity to learn and grow in their artistic development 

Michael studied privately with modern master, David Leffel, and passes along the knowledge and experience he gained under Leffel's tutelage so that each student can reach new levels in their artwork.
