Oak Park June 7 First Friday @ Patris Studio Gallery

Oak Park First Friday

Friday June 7

5 pm - 8 pm

Live Music at Patris Studio and Gallery

with Jammin' James and the Cats Meow

Join us for live music with Jammin' James and the Cats Meow

for an Oak Park First Friday summer sizzler evening.

Jammin' James & Friends are a favorite wherever they play, featuring high-quality original rock, blues, country and Americana, as well as fun covers in the vein of some of the great sixties and seventies artists. The trio features singer/songwriter James Israel on guitar & harmonica, Carolyn McNabb on keyboards and Cris Johnson on stand-up bass.

“Such perfect music for summer: the breezy, addictive and free-groovin' ambience supplied by the James Israel Band. If you were to grab Santana and the likes of Tom Waits, then toss in a little Dire Straits; blend them up and pour out a delicious music shake, you would have JIB – original, sophisticated, fun tunes to satisfy the most insatiable aural appetite. Heaven to the ears, music for the soul, this talent has no boundaries.” – Music review by Kazzaz magazine.

"Cats Meow plays big band & Western swing; country, early rock and roll and jazz standards. Music from the late 20's to early 60's. Toe tapping and danceable!

Beginning Portraits Part 2

 with Patris Miller (sacfinearts.org)

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

If you’ve tried your hand at portrait drawing, you already know it can be difficult to get the results you want.  It can seem overwhelming and can leave you wondering where to even begin.

Successful portrait drawing is a skill that is learned, practiced, and honed.  With knowledge, practice, and guidance we can learn how to develop portrait drawing skills that lead to more satisfactory results.

In these Beginning level 3-part classes, we will take a closer look at helpful proportional guidelines for establishing realistic portraiture, facial features and characteristics, and creating portrait drawings from photo ((or live model) references using the skills and ideas introduced in each series.
