Meet at Patris Studio,
then go to a nearby site.
In these Monday morning classes, we will explore the practice of working outside using pen, pencil, tombow water markers, watercolor pencils, and color pencils to create urban sketches full of life and energy. Students will develop skills in using various media for color theory, value structure, composition, and natural light observation.
Bring your sketch book and your artist grade color pencil sets, watercolors, pens or other sketching materials. We’ll provide various drawing and color media for the class to use.
Take one class or several–each day is a self contained lesson!
$75 for all 3 classes- (paid at first session)

Monday evening
Indoor and Outdoor color pencil drawing classes
August 3, 10, and 17
$30 per class or 3-pack for $75
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
In these color pencil classes, we'll work both inside and outside. Bring your sketch book and color pencils or borrow the studio color pencil sets.
We'll work from direct observation of still life objects. Weather and shade permitting, we'll take our chairs from the studio, our sketchbooks and artist grade color pencils and head outside into the shade for a deep dive into observational drawing and color, using natural light and shadow patterns on still life objects.
These classes are beginner friendly, and each session presents a new lesson and topic to build a strong understanding and skill development in capturing color and 3-dimensional forms with color pencil.
Bring your sketchbook and color pencil drawing supplies or borrow the studio supplies -
we have artist grade 12-pencil sets for everyone to borrow!
