Weekend Acrylic Painting Mini Workshop
"Poppies Near and Far"
(oil paint is acceptable to use as well)

Find inspiration in our state flower, the California Poppy. Whether it's a close-up view or a vibrant field of poppies, we'll take a closer look at the flower's shapes and forms. Then make several drawings using pictures as the model before developing a finished painting on canvas.
Bring in your favorite Poppy photos to work from or use the references provided.

using items from our studio collection.
In these class series, we'll learn techniques used

"Exploring Light and Shadow"

Express your artistic vision by learning a diverse range of techniques to depict light and shadow. Apply your newly gained skills to create dynamic compositions using values and contrasts. This class will emphasize blending, layering and mark-making techniques unique to a variety of media such as pencil, ink, and color pencil.

The focus of this fun class will be to use black and white paint and the values in between to gain an deeper understanding of values and create a stunning and beautiful painting to take home. Subject matter can be a still life set up or a photo of your choice
July 15: Limited Palette Painting:
The focus of this fun class will be to use just 3 colors of paint (Red, Blue, Yellow plus White) to gain a deeper understanding of color mixing secrets and achieving colro harmony in your painting. Then using your color mixing skills, paint a still life set up or work from a photo reference.

We'll explore different techniques and approaches that build good drawing skills and help build proficiency with our craft. Whether you're a beginning level artist or a more seasoned creative, drawing classes are a great way to continue honing your skill set.
Bring a sketch book and drawing pencils if you have them. Studio materials will be provided for anyone needing drawing supplies.

Join us outdoors under a shady spot as we learn about drawing from life. Using a variety of techniques, approaches and various materials, you will learn about composing and creating skillful and interesting drawings of the scenery surrounding us. Location and directions will be sent upon registration.
Bring a sketch book and your favorite drawing pencils. (If you don't have supplies, we will provide them for you)
All other drawing materials provided as we explore a variety of picture-making techniques and final drawing project.
