DESCRIPTION

Fongwei will help you improve handling value, edge, and color in painting portraits and figures. He will stress how to achieve specific painting effects by properly applying paints and medium.  He will introduce his painting concepts to establish a general framework to guide the entire painting process.

30 to 60 minutes lectures and 2 to 3 hours demonstrations will be done the first two mornings, followed by students’ practicing concepts taught. Group or one-on-one critique will be provided as well during the workshop.

BIO

Fongwei Liu received his BFA degree from China in 1994, and received his MFA degree from Academy of Art University, San Francisco in 2009. Since 2010, Fongwei has been teaching graduate level painting classes at Academy of Art University, San Francisco.

Fongwei started his career as a professional artist in 2009. His works have been shown in many exhibitions, such as Salon International by Greenhouse Gallery; National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils by Oil Painters of America; Annual International Portrait Competition by the Portrait Society of America; Great Impressionists – Masters of Fine Art by Silvana Gallery; and Great American Figurative Artists Exhibition by Waterhouse Gallery.

Join AIM (Art Intersects Music) High Party this Saturday at the Studio

Come to the party!  Bring a sketch book, bring a friend, bring yourself--however you want to roll.  We'll have live music from some great local talent that you can sketch, food catered by Juan  in A Million catering, freshly prepared salmon dishes, and so much more.

Elio Camacho Oil Painting Demo and Upcoming Class series

Elio began his demo with a rough block in.

He continued to develop the painting, paying attention to the warm/cool harmonies.

Elio continued to assess the overall harmony and value relationships as he worked over the entire surface of the painting. 

3 hours later- incredible brush work, color and harmony.  See you in class next week!
