An Outdoor Watercolor Workshop with David Peterson, Sunday, April 12, 2015 -
9 am-1 pm.
Fee – $45
Optional: $10 for paper and use of David’s paints, easel and brushes.
Location: Patris Studio and Gallery in Oak Park, Sacramento.
Students of all levels will come to this workshop prepared to paint outdoors. The point of the class is to practice painting fast and loose from life! David will show participants how everyday urban subjects viewed from a street corner can become images for lively and fresh paintings. Indoor painting area available.

Patris Studio and Art Gallery
This workshop is about painting the figure alla
prima (wet into wet) and the techniques used to create a fresh, direct response
to our subjects.
David Shevlino studied
at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (certificate ’84) and the
University of Pennsylvania (BFA ’92). His work has been featured in
national publications and he has exhibited his work and taught workshops
throughout the U.S. He has also produced a series of videos and DVDs about
his artwork and painting methods.

A wonderful Encaustic and Ceracolor Workshop with Paco Benitez

| Using the ancient palette of the Greeks, which we now fondly refer to as the Zorn palette, participants experienced using a limited palette of ochre, white, red, and black in both encaustics and the newly produced Ceracolors. |
 |
| Students worked from reference materials, images of Fayum portraits and a live model. during the workshop. Paco Benitez is the premier master of using the limited palette for contemporary representational painting in encaustics and everyone gained so much from his expertise with this art form. |
 |

“Loose and Lively on the Urban Corner” with David Peterson
A beautiful day out in Oak Park for David Peterson’s Watercolor Workshop this morning titled “Loose and Lively on the Urban Corner.” In this workshop, David showed the group how he takes an ordinary street scene and turns it into a lively and fun painting experience.
Below are some of the paintings from the workshop participants. Everyone enjoyed the day here in the heart of Oak Park painting the urban corners around the studio. David Peterson is an amazing artist and a wonderful instructor. Thank you David for this wonderful watercolor workshop at the studio!
