2 Day Holiday Watercolor Workshop

Friday Dec. 9 and Sat. Dec. 10

 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuition is $175

This charming truck/pooch/tree tableau will be the subject for David's annual winter holiday workshop at one of his favorite places to paint:

the Patris Studio and Gallery.

 

He will teach you step-by-painting step how to distill this scene into a progression of manageable painting phases.

 You’ll be emailed two items at least a week in advance of the workshop:

•  a painting reference photo
•  and an associated outline drawing with instructions on how to transfer it onto watercolor paper.

We will be utilizing wet-on-dry, and a negative painting procedure to render the sn

ow. After the workshop, you may even want to reproduce your painting onto personalized greeting cards. 

Get into the holiday spirit as we step-by painting step render with this adorable scene.

The creativity and painting fun begins during the painting process! David will be teaching a combination of wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry painting techniques to capture the vibrant colors of Fall as he guides participants in creating expressive, energetic and evocative watercolor paintings.

Join us for a fun and creative weekend with nationally known watercolor artist David Lobenberg.

9 am - 1 pm

No drawing experience needed!  Bring your watercolors and supplies (supply list provided upon registration)

Throughout the course of the workshop, artists learn: 

* How to shoot dramatic, stylistic reference photos with a smart phone and natural daylight.

 * How to utilize a simple photo/tracing technique to prepare for the painting process.

 * How to bust through the color barrier. 

* How to mix gutsy colors with a minimal five-color palette. 

* How to merge positive and negative stencil embellishment techniques into their portraits. 

At the conclusion of David's workshop, artists will have the where-with-all to follow their own path towards creating California Vibe Watercolor Portraits™!
